GuideLights and Gadgets began in early 2012, when ideas first generated a business based on a demand for products to promote safe travel for service and guide dogs and their handlers.  It quickly became apparent that many of these products had a more general appeal to owners and handlers of all breeds and careers.  And why leave out the humans?  GuideLights and Gadgets also carries a line of accessible and easy-to-use "people technology" that enable people who are blind or visually impaired to have fun with easy-to-use electronic products.

Have fun exploring our site.  We think that there can be something here for almost anyone and welcome requests and suggestions for products.

In the beginning there was travel in the darkness...but then came the GuideLight!

GuideLights and Gadgets launched in 2012, a merging of two diverse product lines for pups and people.  The GuideLight Dogs concept began with Kae's traveling experiences with Melody, her first guide dog and also forever #1 "GuideLight."  This gentle and life-changing little "Goldador" provides inspiration for our line of products promoting safe and convenient travel, highlighting specialized items for dog/handler teams, and includes lots of unique and useful items that are just plain fun (like lots of interactive toys and good times for all people and pets).  As we developed the line, we started to add clever dog-related gadgets, such as collapsible bowls scoops, grooming supplies, and even electronic gadgetry, such as lighted harness straps, USB- chargeable light-sensing safety collars, and talking pet thermometers, so that even customers who are totally blind can access the benefits of the products.

Meanwhile, the Gadgets Guy, Barry, had been, for many years, sourcing and developing electronic and related products that are accessible to blind consumers.  Using bluetooth technology, he is able to make your Victor Stream read through a wireless connection to a speaker.  Every product distributed is a product that Barry has himself tested and successfully used, as a blind person.  All must be accessible, affordable, practical or at least a lot of fun.

GuideLights and Gadgets, Inc. brought the two lines together in an unusual but compatible collection of great stuff for people and pups.  While diverse in type, there are items in the "GuideLights" line that are for people (such as key chains, coasters, and cooling neckties, as well as "GO Gadgets" products that are for dogs (such as the talking pet thermometer and light-sensor operated collar), so the two lines are not as exclusive as they at first may seem!

Best of all, this business is about fun and openness to the possibilities that there are always new discoveries to be made and shared, and that many may benefit from what we have found to be useful.

We hope that you enjoy our site and that you will share ideas for additional products for out lines.  Check back with us often.  The site will always be changing, as our business grows!
